Getting started
A TileWhirl puzzle is a tray and a set of colored tiles. Each pattern shows which color goes in each spot. Here is the easiest way to build one.
Pick a pattern
Go to Puzzles, choose your tray, and pick a pattern. If it is your first time, filter the library for Easy patterns.
Sort your tiles
Every pattern page lists how many tiles of each color you need. Sort those colors into piles before you start. It makes building much faster.
Set up your screen
Press Build mode. The pattern fills your screen and your phone or tablet stays awake while you work. Use + and − to zoom in. Prefer paper? Press Print.
Build in order
Work one row or one section at a time. Square patterns have rows A to L and columns 1 to 12. Triangle patterns have lettered rows. Star patterns letter the five points A to E.
Check and tick it off
Compare your tray with the screen, then press Mark as built. The library shows a tick on every pattern you have finished, saved in that browser.
Tips for each tray
Square
Work one row at a time from row A, left to right. Row letters and column numbers are printed around the picture, so you can always find your place.
Triangle
Start at the single tile at the top (row A) and work down. Tiles alternate point-up and point-down along every row, so a row of the wrong length means a tile is missing.
Star
Build one point at a time. The points are lettered A to E, going counter-clockwise from the top. Start at the center of each point and work out to its tip.
Hex
First lay out the tiles in the layout shown, then color them. Begin with the outer ring and work inward, or start with the two center tiles if the layout has rings.
Looking after your tiles
Tiles are 3D-printed plastic. Wipe them with a damp cloth if they need cleaning, and keep them away from heat: no dishwasher, hot water, or hot cars, which can warp them.
Missing a tile? Ask for a replacement.
